When looking for a replacement for their aging wastewater treatment plant, it was important to SIKA that the distillate can be reused and that all limit values for discharge into the municipal wastewater treatment plant will be met. The solution - a VACUDEST 4.500 with Clearcat.
While relocating its production line, a manufacturer of high-end sealing systems for powertrains in China considered a new wastewater concept. For the company, which specializes in precision seals and modules made of elastomer, metal, and plastic materials for the automotive industry, environmentally compatible processes and the efficient use of water as a resource are important aspects.
At Rabas Protec in Saint Nazaire, France, aluminium parts are produced, mainly for the aerospace industry. After mechanical processing, the parts are anodised and painted to protect them from corrosion. To do this, the surfaces of the parts are first prepared in degreasing baths, followed by sodium and acid pickling. Before the surface treatment, an NDT test can be carried out using dye penetrant testing. The final step is painting.
In the course of the expansion of production at IWIS in Landsberg and the acquisition of new parts washing systems, project manager Henning Fritz and the person responsible for the parts washing systems also considered a new wastewater treatment system. Due to the good experiences with the company H2O GmbH at the location in Munich and a very successful, quality-improving test run in their own production, the decision to use a sustainable VACUDEST vacuum distillation system for this site as well was made.
In November 2013, AUDI AG opened its new production facilities in Münchsmünster. In the Industrial Park in Münchsmünster, located approximately 30 kilometres to the east of the main plant, an Audi competence centre was created for the production of bodywork structural parts made of die-cast aluminium, hot and cold formed pressed parts, as well as chassis components.
Sustainable and economical production - this was also the wish of the company ZINKPOWER Coating Schopsdorf in Saxony-Anhalt. The company specialises in the powder coating of steel, hot-dip galvanised steel and aluminium components. The company opted for a VACUDEST vacuum distillation system for the water treatment process.
As a family-owned company with a long tradition spanning more than seven decades, ecological responsibility is a fundamental component of the Harting Technology Group's actions. Thus, the course towards wastewater-free production with the VACUDEST process was set early on at the main plant in Espelkamp. This fundamental decision in favour of ecologically sensible action in combination with economic considerations was also already supported during the company's development in China.
Sea Link International, a Tier 2 manufacturer that specializes in the development of complex components for the automotive lighting industry opened in October 2016 its new die cast facility in Kunshan. Looking for a sustainable and economical solution for its wastewater Sea Link opted for an H2O vacuum distillation system. Operation Manager Elmir Beca was involved in this project from the beginning and its major booster. He talks about his experience in this interview.

20 years of H2O – two decades worth of experience. Many years of experience, including from the customers who use our systems. How did things used to be? What has happened since? To find that out, we visited one of our oldest clients. Believe it or not, they ran a VACUDEST system to treat their stainless steel pickling water for 28 years.
The Vendée Concept plant in La Roche-sur-Yon (85) manufactures systems for the food industry using specific technological processes. When manufacturing their machines from welded stainless steel, water is generated as a by-product: namely rinsing water from the pickling and passivation processes. Previously this wastewater has been treated on site using a physicochemical facility. Vendée Concept has now decided to use a sustainable vacuum evaporator from H2O.
Kompressorenbau Bannewitz GmbH (KBB) has decided that it will no longer have wastewater from its various processes collected by a waste management company. Instead, the Saxon company has opted to deploy a VACUDEST vacuum distillation system from H2O GmbH. The resulting annual savings amount to €40,000.
The more profitable a project, the greater the investment. But it’s not just high savings potentials which motivate businesses to invest in wastewater treatment. The responsibility to protect the environment is also playing a key role for an increasing number of industrial companies.
“If it works, work with it; if it doesn’t, change it!” This was the motto under which the French firm DBP Holding operated when it decided on a proven wastewater treatment system with VACUDEST technology for its new factory workshop. Following over 15 years of positive experience with two existing VACUDEST system installations, a new VACUDEST L 4500 is now processing acidic rinsing water used to condition stainless steel and titanium.
Montblanc is a company based in Hamburg, Germany, that is well-known for manufacturing handcrafted, high-quality writing instruments. All Montblanc writing instruments are characterised by their high-quality materials. Many individual components in the pens – such as the nibs, rings and clips – are made from precious metals or are coated with precious metals. An electroplating process is used to coat the components with these metals. This process results in wastewater that contains precious metals and that must be treated before it can be fed into the sewerage system.
Jet Aviation in Basel, Switzerland, is using a VACUDEST vacuum distillation system to efficiently and sustainably treat wastewater left over from refurbishing aircraft parts. This state-of-the-art system replaced outdated chemical/physical treatment at the company...
